I would like to offer a VDA service to CASUAL users, without the red tape of having to register them for a licence. I do not want to worry about which version of Windows (or non-Windows OS) the user has. They would access a session using open software e.g. VNC which they can source themselves if technical, or can be provided as an easy download for a wide range of devices and operating systems. A web-based approach e.g. Java Applet is also possible.

So the idea is: user wants to use windows" for a few hours to a few days, we want to let them do this without an onerous registration process or restrictive platform requirements. Just payment, and access.

I guess M$ don't want us to offer the service. We can of course do something similar with Open Source e.g. Linux + OpenOffice but will lose some customers this way who want a Windows Desktop on Demand"

Re: ESI - EMC Storage Integrator for Windows / Sharepoint

I just required some information and was searching on Google for it. Thanks for sharing with us! I would like to see a follow up post with some use cases. Now we know how to set it up but how do we actually use it? Any gotchas with FASTVP etc? I know Duncan has a post on this so as some others but from a VNX and VMAX perspective it would be useful.

Re: Configuring VASA with EMC arrays – CLARiiON, VNX and VMAX

Craig, great article

Re: EMC Navisphere Simulator - Download

Me also ....thankx in advance
yogesh9881@hotmail.com
yogesh9881@gmail.com

I set this up in our lab environment in Munich, where we also have the VSI plugin installed. Make sure that you sync your storage arrays there. I had a small problem with the file side of a VNX not syncing in the VSI, and that prevented the storage capabilities from showing up under the storage profiles.

So, if you use both VASA/SMI-S and the VSI plugin, make sure all relevant arrays in the VSI plugin sync properly, otherwise you might run in to issues.

Re: Citrix XenDesktop 5 and vSphere 4.1 Reference Architecture

Nice blog, but that brings many other potential architecture design questions that come to mind.
